Looking For Some Break-up Advice? 5 Things to Remember After a Break-Up

in Relationship

Yes, we can't agree more. Going through a break-up is devastating and miserable enough that some of us can't seem to move on after the blow. It's one of the most hurtful things that can happen in any relationship and breaking-up entails loneliness and gloom for quite some time. But you have to remember that you're not alone. Everyday, couples break-up then make-up while others can't seem to keep the romance alive anymore --- thus, ending what seemed to be the best feeling in world --- being in love. However, remember that life doesn't have to stop. Below are the five things to do right after a break-up:

  • Let it all out. It's okay --- wail and wallow. Cry it all out. Break a few stuff and that's fine. Rip all your photos together and burn them up --- do anything to lessen the pain. It's going to first step (and probably the toughest) part of your healing process. And yes, you can drink blind yourself blind tonight.
  • Go out with your family and friends. Have you been missing a lot of parties and birthdays of family and friends? Give them a surprise visit! Nothing gives you more comfort when you're around people who care and love you. So make-up for the time lost.
  • Talk it over. Keeping it all inside will make you explode in due time so hangout with your buddies, a coworker, a neighbor or a flat mate, share a few beers or coffee and talk about it --- it's very therapeutic and believe me, you'll be feeling better after.
  • Enjoy being single. Missed dating and flirting a lot? Well my friend, this is one of the great things of being single --- you are ready to mix and mingle! A break-up hurts, yes, but it doesn't mean that it's all you'll ever think about for the rest of your life.
Keep yourself busy, go to the gym, do your hobbies and start dating once again. Nothing can be a more perfect time.
  • It's not the end of the world. When things start to numb, you know well enough that you have to move. You have to breathe. You have to continue living. Relationships that last longer than a year are the most difficult to endure when you reached a point of breaking up --- you've shared a lot of good and bad times that you think you can never move on. You can. And today's the perfect time to get off your bed, leave your apartment, meet new people and celebrate life still.
