The process of getting over a relationship breakup is most often very difficult-but of course I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. You spend days sitting around alone in your basement all depressed and thinking the world is coming to an end. While in this state, you're not even thinking about getting over a relationship breakup.
The thing is, you can't lie around in this state forever. At some point, you need to pick up the pieces and move on with your life. Otherwise, your current state of depression will no longer be just a phase you went through, it will start to define who you are. Here is some advice on getting over a relationship breakup and moving on with your life:
1. Lose the anger and bitterness
I know, your ex hurt you-really bad. You have my sympathies. They did things that caused you lots of pain and left you all alone. You have every right to be upset, but it's not healthy for you to continue feeling this way. The first step to getting over a relationship breakup is to forgive your ex for all the wrong they did to you. Put this behind you, and move on. Trust me, you will feel much better once you take this important first step.
2. Lose your ex's phone number
Well, not literally. But, get in the habit of not using it. Don't call up your ex or send them texts all the time. Getting over a relationship breakup will be alot easier on you (and your ex) if you cut off contact as much as possible. This may be a hard step for you, but it's necessary if you want to move forward with your life.
3. Find yourself a new and better life
Yes, I know. This is a lot easier said than done. Getting over a relationship breakup means finding yourself some new and exciting things to do to occupy the vacuum that used to be your life. Look at it like hitting the reset button on your favorite video game. Now is your chance to do some things you've wanted, but felt trapped or never had time for during your relationship. Make the most of this new opportunity and find a better and more enjoyable life.
